THE SEARCH JOURNEY NOW HAS ANOTHER STARTING POINT
Traditional search still matters. What has changed is that some buyers now begin with a question to an AI assistant, receive a synthesized answer, and visit only a handful of cited sources. That makes clarity and evidence more important, not less.
AI search optimisation is the work of making a company, its expertise and its claims easy for both people and machines to understand. It sits alongside technical SEO; it does not replace crawlability, useful pages or a credible brand.
MAKE THE ANSWER EXTRACTABLE
A page should state who it is for, what question it answers and what evidence supports the answer before it asks a reader to decode marketing language.
- Use descriptive headings that match the questions buyers actually ask.
- Define specialist terms in plain English before using abbreviations.
- Keep important facts in visible page copy, not only images or interactive widgets.
- Link claims to methodology, source material or a clearly labelled limitation.
BUILD ENTITY CLARITY ACROSS THE SITE
Your company name, offer, audience, locations and areas of expertise should agree across the About page, service pages, structured data and external profiles. Contradictions make it harder for a buyer—and an answer engine—to know which statement is authoritative.
Structured data can describe what is already on the page. It cannot turn a weak or unsupported claim into a trustworthy one.
MEASURE THE BUSINESS JOURNEY, NOT CITATION THEATRE
There is no universal report that proves an AI answer was caused by one page edit. Track the signals you can observe: qualified organic visits, branded search, assisted conversions, sales-call mentions and citations that can be reproduced. Treat visibility tools as directional rather than as audited revenue attribution.
